Carmel Beach Club

Carmel Beach Club was designed and built on a small site that allowed enough density to achieve environmental goals, economical access and a great social holiday setting.

Environmental: The project used a fraction of the land of a normal beach front cottage country approach. In addition, all heating, cooling and hot water came from the lake water and heat pumps. Buildings were designed to conserve energy using high insulation levels and low-E glass.  Landscapes incorporated native plantings and rock from the site for terracing gardens and pathways.

Economics: The dense, compact site allowed more units and thus more affordability per unit.  Local and regional sourcing of materials (timbers, cedar, lumber and concrete) fed into the local economy and reduced shipping costs and employed local builders.  The quality of the site layout, finishes and amenities made for longevity of the construction and value of the units to the owners.

Social: The Carmel Beach Club project was proposed for both onsite living and time share structures. The dock, the pool, the “Clubhouse” and fire pit patio all added to the social benefits of the resort. The Clubhouse was equipped with fitness room, sauna, children’s play zone, a fireplace lounge, kitchen for parties and with pool side activities for young and old.
