Hope Street House
The Hope Street House was a design/renovation with additions to a 1912 heritage house in Calgary AB. While heritage compatibility was a factor for the form and interiors, healthy materials and sustainable mechanical systems were a major issue to be integrated. The additions included a lower level garage with a live work studio/solarium over, a family room and an upstairs master bedroom with west roof deck added to the back the house. An efficient boiler and under floor heating tubes provide healthy radiant heat and a heat recovery ventilator (HRV) was installed to maintain healthy air exchanges. All finishes used non-toxic materials and paints.
